Ban on all open burning in Miami County


A declaration of a state of local disaster emergency for Miami County, Kansas.  On October 14, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners of Miami County, Kansas finds that dangerous conditions exist in the unincorporated areas of Miami County due to excessively dry and windy weather that has caused, or eminently threaten to cause wide-spread fires that could result in severe damage, injury or loss of life or property in disastrous proportion in Miami County, Kansas.

Conditions have created situations that endanger the health, safety, and welfare of persons and property within the borders of Miami County.

1, The Board of County Commissioners of Miami County, Kansas, under and by virtue of the authority by K.S.A 48-932, does proclaim that a State of Local Emergency exists within Miami County, Kansas and that the area within the borders of Miami County, Kansas covered by this proclamation/resolution is the entire unincorporated area of Miami County, Kansas.

2. All right and/or powers to perform such functions as are vested in said Board by and through the provisions of the Kansas Emergency Act of 1975 and amendments thereto.

3.  A ban on all open burning, inclusive of any type of controlled burning of grass, brush, woods, trash or debris as well as campfires and including fireworks within the unincorporated areas of Miami County, Kansas shall go into effect, effective upon notice being placed on the County's website on this 14th day of October 2020.

4. This resolution shall remain in effect until lifted by the Board of County Commissioners of Miami County, Kansas.
