Miami County Airport Board is comprised of 5 members, each serving 3 year terms. The Board studies all phases of the present and future operation, expansion, planning and management of all facilities at the Miami County Airport and makes appropriate recommendations to the County Commission. Board of Zoning Appeals is comprised of 7 members, each serving 3 year terms. The Board serves as a quasi-judicial board of review to consider appeals of an administrative determination in the application of Zoning Regulations; to consider exceptions to the Zoning Regulations; and to consider requests for variances from the Zoning Regulations. 6th Judicial District Community Services Program members serve 2 year terms. The Board of Commissioners of Linn, Bourbon and Miami County appoint a Community Services Board to advise the Counties on expenditures of Community Corrections and Juvenile Detention grant funds. The 12 member Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board adopts a comprehensive plan for the development, implementation, operation and improvement of juvenile correction services. Fire Board, District No. 1 is comprised of 7 members currently each serving 2 year terms. The Board provides overall direction of personnel and purchasing of equipment relegated to fire protection within their district boundaries. Council on Aging is comprised of 15 members each serving 3 year terms. The Board oversees the provision of Senior Citizen Services at the three area Senior Centers. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month (except July, August, and December), beginning at 1 pm at the County Administration Building. Planning Commission is comprised of 9 members, each serving 3 year terms. The Commission makes recommendations on comprehensive plan, zoning and subdivision regulations to ensure the orderly growth and anticipated development of the Miami County area. Tri-Ko is comprised of 9 members, each serving 3 year terms. There are 3 representatives for each county (Miami, Anderson and Linn). Their mission is to promote opportunities for persons with disabilities and to support their choices in life. Miami County Historical Society Advisory Board is comprised of 10 members, each serving 3 year terms with terms staggered. The members are appointed at-large, with each Commissioner have two appointments to the Board. The Miami County Historical Advisory Board is created for teh specific purpose of advising the County Commission as to the preservation of historical records and artificats, pursuant to K.S.A. 19-2651. Community Health Board is comprised of 5 members, each serving 3 year terms. The Board serves as an advisory to the Miami County Board of Commissioners regarding community health matters. Lake Region Solid Waste Authority originated from an interlocal agreement between Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, Linn, Miami, and Osage counties. The Board of Commissioners from each county appoints representative members to serve 3 year terms. Committees are established by the Authority to not only develop, write, review annually and conduct public hearings for a management plan that addresses solid waste handling for the six counties; but to also advise on education, recycling, composting, special waste, collection/transportation/disposal within the six counties. Miami County Economic Development Board is comprised of a minimum of 7 members, each serving 3 year terms. The County Commission appoints 3 members and the cities of Louisburg, Osawatomie, Paola, and Spring Hill make one appointment each. The Directors meet monthly in the Economic Development Conference Room located in Suite 202 of the Miami County Administration Building.
