County Retail Shopping Analysis
The Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University
conducted a 2008 telephone survey to investigate Miami County residents’
shopping attitudes and behaviors. The survey was designed to:
- Determine
the extent and type of retail purchases in Miami by those who
live in Miami County.
- Determine
reasons for not shopping in Miami County among Miami County residents.
- Ascertain
the types of products and establishments most desired for Miami
County among the County residents.
- Determine
out-of-county shopping-associated activities.
- Determine
extent to which those who reside in but work outside Miami County
make their purchases out of County as a matter of convenience
and/or perceived cost savings.
