The Miami County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank you for your interest in our agency. We hope that the information contained in our web site will help provide useful information to the citizens of Miami County. As the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the county, the Sheriff is required by Kansas Law to serve civil and criminal process papers, keep the peace, provide protection for citizens, and keep those incarcerated secured. The Sheriff’s Office consists of 23 sworn Deputy Sheriffs (5 Sergeants, 3 Detectives and 12 Patrol), 2 part-time Deputy Sheriffs,10 Reserve, 20 Civilian Employees and 25 Volunteers.

Biography Frank W. Kelly

Frank joined the Miami County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division in 1988, transferred to Detective Division in 1991, was appointed to Undersheriff in 1994, and was appointed to Sheriff by Governor Joan Finney in 1994, due to the unfortunate death of the late Sheriff Ken Davis.

Frank is a graduate of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (1986) and a Graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, VA (193rd Session). A member of the Kansas Sheriff's Association, National Sheriff's Association, International Association of Chief's of Police, Kansas Peace Officers Association, and the Knights of Columbus.

Frank resides in Paola and has four sons, Matthew, Kyle, Jonathan and Ryan.

 

Biography Wayne Minckley

Wayne joined the Miami County Sheriff's Office in 1991, as a jailer, transferred to the Road Patrol Division in 1992, transferred to the Investigations Division in 1995, promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2005, transferred to Administrative Sergeant in 2010, and appointed Undersheriff on April 4, 2011.

Wayne is a graduate of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (1993).  Wayne is a member of the KSA, KPOA, IACP, NTOA, and MTOA.

Wayne resides in Miami County with his wife Paula, sons Dalton, Dillon, and oldest son Devon is married with two daughters.
